I analyze Hatchet 3 (by Decker Shado)

Hatchet 3 was the film that was a horror in the Hatchet trilogy. It is a story about Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.

The film's greatest strength is its use of practical special effects. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of practical makeup effects and sets. This is a departure from many horror movies today that rely heavily upon CG effects. The film also has several truly terrifying moments.

Kane Hodder is a standout in the ensemble and is a formidable villain. It's like a slasher film from the 1980s and the (blog) dialogue is somewhat funny and snarky. Additionally, there are some genuinely funny moments throughout that provide comedic contrast to the heart-wrenching action.

Due to the budget being $1 million, most locations were reused from earlier movies. The house on the lake that was used twice in the film was a prime instance. A lot of the film appears to be a re-use from other films in the franchise. Hatchet or Hatchet2 may feel the film is familiar.

In the end, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be remarkably like other films in this series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of gory thrills and entertaining performances from its actors.
